Meet Lizzie! Lizzie Chadbourne is in love with every product she makes and sells. Her passion for natural beauty grew out of an interest in crafting, an enthusiasm about herbalism, and a recognition that she could treat her body better. After years of education, experimenting, and research – and with an improving complexion – She started Lo & Behold because she knew she had something special to offer that was making people happy. Her mission for Lo & Behold is to maintain an uncommon air of fun while exceeding the highest standards of the natural care industry.
Tell us about your favorite product from your collection.
My favorite product right now is the Honeysuckle & Aloe Vera Facial Toner. Not only do I love using this product morning and night, but also I am smitten with all the fantastic customer feedback. Recently a young woman told me ” I no longer wear makeup because the toner cleared up my skin completely!”
“Sometimes I feel lost and overwhelmed but the more I understand the more excited I get!”
What has been the most surprising aspect of starting a business?
The most surprising thing for me has been enjoying the business side. I actually love understanding taxes, reading business books, and planning how to scale the company. Sometimes I feel lost and overwhelmed but the more I understand the more excited I get!
What kind of creative patterns, routines or rituals do you have?
For me creativity comes easily, almost like an obsession. The back of my brain is always thinking about new products and ingredient combinations. In fact I often wake up at night fantasizing about ideas, I will get out of bed and write them all down in my inspiration notebook.
What is your dream project? If there were no restrictions on time or money what would you create?
My dream project would be releasing way more products! I would literally make and sell every skincare item you can think of, and I hope this dream will come true eventually.
Who or what inspires you and your creative process?
All elements of nature inspire me, as well as the artwork from my friend Amy Richards Illustration that I feature on the labels. My customers also really inspire me, every product we have released since starting was inspired by my customers and everything new I plan to release is inspired by their requests as well.
